Last month the EU parliament approved a new set of immigration rules which will allow member states to send send illegal immigrants back to where they come from. They can also be detained for up to 18 months and banned from re-entering the EU for five years. \n\nOne of those who would have been affected by the new rules is 28-year-old Senegalese Omar Bar. The boat he travelled on to Europe sank. He was the only survivor.\n\nNow he lives legally in France and campaigns to alert young Africans to the risks they are taking if they try to reach Europe. This is his story.
