The base on the U.S. Army\'s 50 cal. machine gun. I set the gun on to of the tripod. I did notice it was missing it\'s bolt to attach the tripod: a quick trip to the hardware store will fix. I put in two size D batteries. The toy gave off a loud rat-tat-tat sound and the barrel lit up and recoiled. Measures 29\" inches in length.
